Debating Pineapples.  Fun because it's pointless.
In my opinion, the owl uttered the dumbest words in the entire passage
I agree with the logic.  And yet it is the answer that Pearson Education has in the memo released to Time Magazine (and I knew it was the answer they want), with the additional inanity that the reason the Hare is not the Wisest sage ... overconfidence and incredulous.

The Pineapple Question and Confucian Wisdom
And the Fall of Civilization, etc.

So now the tentacles of Pearson.
Hm.  by beloved children’s author Daniel Pinkwater–a story that, in context, was told by a man pretending to be crazy, in other words, it was never supposed to be read as something to make sense of, or something with an applicable “moral.
Uncle Borgel was pretending to be crazy?

If Pearson and Tisch were teachers being evaluated based on lesson of the pineapple, hare, and owl, because of their misapplication of the concept of wisdom and their failure to ask higher-order thinking questions, they would both be rated "UNSATISFACTORY."

Editorial Comment from me:  Ugh to this:
Activities will include “Pencils Down: High-Stakes Testing Drill” and guest appearances by the pineapple and the hare from Pearson’s now-infamous test item.
Why am I even talking about the Pineapple and the Hare on this blog?  It wasn't even written by Pinkwater.
