Stormman reviews Alan Mendelsohn and Slaves of Spiegel: Pinkwater sells himself on being a subversive children's writer, on being someone too risque for the big publishers to touch. I was not impressed by him.

Hobokanalia: Finally there's this book, The Hoboken Chicken Emergency, by Daniel Pinkwater.
Click on the link, because you have to see the cover of the book. It's like the Cluck U mascot got zapped by gamma rays. There's a giant chicken shooting laser beams out of its eyes, with the beams exploding cars and sending scared residents scurrying for cover. How the heck are we supposed to deal with an attacking chicken crisis when we can't even plow snow?
